Product Evolution

Service 6

You’ve done it. You and the members of your team have finally launched your product. It’s taken months, maybe even years of hardwork, but your technology product is now available to the public. This would be a great time for a well-deserved breather, isn’t it? Perhaps that long-delayed vacation is in order, right? The answer to both questions is, absolutely not. This is no time to rest on your laurels. In fact, in many cases, the more successful your product is, the more work you will face.

Wait! What?

It’s true. A successful launch means more users, and more users means lots of feature requests and bug reports. If you want your current success to continue, you have to be responsive to this feedback. Don’t worry, just like we were there for your initial concept, design, development, and launch stages; we will also be there to help you evolve and customize your product.

Product Customization. If your new, technology offering was created with enterprise in mind, you can expect product customization requests to start rolling in quickly. If you’ve managed to catch the eye of larger companies you can expect the same as well.

As you attempt to navigate all of this, you might find yourself in scary territory. You want to work with larger companies, and create customized versions of your products that meet their needs. But, at the same time, you want to maintain your vision and branding. You are also concerned with scalability.

All of this can be exciting, as you recognize the opportunities ahead, but it’s not unusual to feel like David facing Goliath. Do you have the infrastructure in place to meet the demands of a larger company? Can you keep up with product customization requests from multiple channels? That’s a lot of projects for one startup to manage at the same time.

Fortunately, this is just one more area where we shine. Our designers, engineers, developers, and project managers can work with you to help you to stay on top of customization requests from any enterprise.

Feature development. Almost as soon as you launch your product, you will start receiving requests for new features. Many will be one off requests that won’t need to be followed up on, but some will gain traction. These are the feature requests that you will receive over and over again.

When it becomes clear that a new feature is a must to retain customers, and to keep them excited about your product, it can be difficult to determine the best course of action. For example, do you release new features one at a time, or save them for a your version 2.0? How do you allocate resources for developing features while also keeping up with maintenance? Do you maintain the same price point, or does the feature add enough value to warrant a premium version?

Netfix can help you to manage the both the design and the logisitics of developing new features while helping to insure that your resources are not spread too thin. We’re ready to step in with our expertise at any point, even if we weren’t involved in the initial planning, developing, or launch of your product.

Design revision. It’s never fun to discover that the product you have created is more miss than hit. Unfortunately, this is something that many tech startups have to deal with. In fact, there are even well-established technology companies have faced. Windows and Apple are two internationally admired brands, and both have released products that just did not perform as expected.

In some cases, the best course of action is to simply scrap the product altogether and move onto the next idea. However, we believe that in many cases, that design revision can truly turn things around. We can help you during this process by analyzing what your customers are saying, and examining your design and development methods.

Before long, we’ll figure out where things went off track, and restart the design phase at the ideal spot to save what works, scrap what doesn’t, and emphasize the features that have the most promise.
